If you have ever advertised or written online you might have heard these two fateful words: “i’m interested” often used on its own, alone. That often send chills down the spine of the seller or publisher as they just opened an email or looked at their comment section all excited, only to realise that they just wasted a few minutes of their life. In my experience 100% of people who use this phrase (unless asked to) are time-wasters. 100%. They are low-effort time-wasters not worth the effort of replying.
In the case of business, they probably did not even read the listing properly, don’t know what it entails (and what steps to take next), and won’t even be able to answer or articulate a follow up question (to qualify them for the opportunity).
I get it, most of the country is unemployed, desperate, sick and tired of being sick and tired and will latch onto anything in desperation. But this is not the way to go about it, you won’t get anywhere, if you cannot read, understand, apply your mind, research and immerse yourself in a business, you are not going to get any help. There are millions – official numbers are approaching 10 million unemployed and that does not even count the other millions of underemployed looking for opportunity.
If you use this phrase, do not be surprised if people don’t take you seriously because 100% of the time people who use this phrase is not serious. I don’t know why they even bother to reply. But if you think that someone is going to reply and hold your hand through a business you are delusional. You need to rise above the 10 million and put yourself in a position to help yourself and for that you need to learn – on your own – what the business entails and how to apply yourself to take advantage of the opportunity.
